BWW Blog: Kelly McCormick of PTC's LES MISERABLES - Great Junk Food!

(5/16/2013) - When people ask me why I love Salt Lake City as much as I do, I usually reply, 'Amazing outdoor life, a thriving creative community, and great junk food.' Emphasis on the latter. For the record, I am not including in this category all of the amazing home-baked goodies that our very own Mary Driggs brings in on what seems like a weekly basis (and thank goodness for the hiking in the Wasatch Mountains to burn off all those cupcakes!). Only here have I had things like deep-fried scones (!), Hawaiian Haystack, Apple Beer, and Hires Big H. If you grew up in the Midwest, like I did, you probably know Hires Root Beer - it was my favorite pop (Yes, that's what we called it. Laugh away), available at any grocery store. How thrilling to know that their flagship restaurant, an old-fashioned burger joint where everything is made from scratch daily, is right here in Utah!

Pioneer Theatre Company Adds Wednesday Matinee Performance to LES MISERABLES Schedule

(5/10/2013) - Due to popular demand, Pioneer Theatre Company has added an extra matinee performance of Les Miserables on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. The performance takes place at2:00 p.m. Tickets for the extra performance go on sale Monday, May 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. via the internet at www.pioneertheatre.org and via the Box Office in person or at 801-581-6961. Tickets for all other performances may also still be purchased. Half-priced tickets for children in grades K-12 are available for the May 29 matinee performance, and for all of the remaining Monday and Tuesday evening performances.

Utah Shakespeare Festival Announces Upcoming Season

(5/8/2013) - The Utah Shakespeare Festival recently revealed its 2014 season, eight plays running from June 23 to October 18. Artistic Directors David Ivers and Brian Vaughn announced the season, which includes four plays ranging from Shakespeare classics to a Stephen Sondheim musical to a world premier adaptation of a beloved novel.

JERSEY BOYS Plays June 4-16 at Capitol Theatre

(5/7/2013) - Casting has been announced for the Salt Lake City engagement of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, playing the Capitol Theatre June 4-16. The cast of JERSEY BOYS will be led by Brandon Andrus (Nick Massi),Nick Cosgrove (Frankie Valli), Nicolas Dromard (Tommy DeVito) and Jason Kappus (Bob Gaudio) as The Four Seasons, with Barry Anderson and Thomas Fiscella.

All-4-One to Open 2013 Season at SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre

(5/7/2013) - SCERA President & CEO Adam J. Robertson swears by the opening event of the 2013 summer season at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre. And the word "swear" is the appropriate description, as Grammy Award-winning R&B harmony group All-4-One will perform their megahit "I Swear" on Memorial Day, May 27.

This ever-popular musical is making a comeback - literally - and, no, I don't mean an uptick in ticket sales since the movie was released last December. PTC was the first regional theatre to produce Les Mis, in 2007, where it played for 10 sold-out weeks. So it's no surprise that we're here again, just six years later, bringing this amazing story to life.

(4/15/2013) - Ten years ago, Farewell to Eden premiered at Utah Valley University. The student written show by Mahonri Stewart was a success, selling out its run, prompting enthusiastic reviews, and going on to win second place in the Kennedy Center's American College Theatre Festival's national playwriting award, as well as snagging a KCACTF National Selection Team Fellowship Award. The strong showing the play presented at the Festival prompted one of the judges, Gary Garrison, to say that the play was 'the most intelligently written play I have read [for the festival] in a decade.' For its ten year anniversary, Zion Theatre Company is remounting a production of the play directed by Ronnie Stringfellow tonight, April 15-27.
